Ben Meets Santa

Ben's been a very good boy, so I think Santa will give him everything he wants!

Except for the fact that Ben already has everything that he wants.  He's got parents, family and friends who all love him very much!  He's got a full belly pretty much all the time and he's got lots of wrapping paper to shake and pacifiers to throw.  What else could he want??

I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas and an enjoyable holiday season!

Ho Ho Ho!!!

Here's our favorite present under our tree!

The Secret Behind Ben's Smile...

Quite a few people comment to me about what a happy baby Ben is.  They look at the pictures here on this blog and they say - "Wow!  He's happy all the time!"   And you know what - he is a very happy baby pretty much all the time.   This past week we've all been dealing with a round of the stomach bug and there have been times that Ben really isn't feeling well and he'll be a little fussy...  but then he'll throw up, and then laugh about it.  What a kid!

Do you want to know our secret to having a happy child?   The picture below may explain it all...

Hey, if it works...  Well, of course I'm just kidding.  We just use this cup to rinse him off when we bathe him.  But is it any coincidence that just a few hours later Ben was looking like this??

That's our Benjamin! Always the life of the party!  So, now you know the secret behind that smile...

Rice Rice, Baby!

So it would seem that formula just isn't enough to support the ever growing Benjamin anymore.  While he was sleeping through the night (mostly) for a couple of months, lately the bottle of formula just isn't enough anymore to sustain him through the night.  So we started feeding him his first solid food - single grain rice.  It doesn't sound or look very appetizing, but he's starting to get the hang of 'real' food.  We've been getting a big kick out of feeding him these first bites.  At first his tongue just seemed to automatically push it out.  Then he progressed to squirting it out.   After a couple of weeks now, he's actually swollowing some of it.   Here he is doing his best Santa impression using rice as his beard and mustache.

I think he thinks he's funny.... and he is!   Hopefully we'll soon get to the point where we can actually fill his belly with this food stuff so he gets back to sleeping through the night.   YAWN....

Update:  Last night Ben did really well and ate the most rice he's ever eaten.  He still got up overnight, but he slept in a little later...  there's hope that we'll all get a full nights rest soon.
